Health Services

Mental (Behavioral) Health

Everyone reacts to stress and traumatic experiences differently. While some have reactions that can be seen as normal responses to life events, others may experience signs or symptoms of more serious conditions.

Mental health and substance misuse disorders can affect anyone; you are not alone. The Military Health System has many resources available to help those who need it.

If you or someone you know needs support now, call or text 988 or chat at 988Lifeline.org. 988 connects you with a trained crisis counselor who can help.

Our facility offers the following mental health services:

  • Mental/Behavioral Health Clinic
  • Substance Use Disorder Clinical Care
  • Family Advocacy Program

Behavioral Health Clinic

The BAHC Department of Behavioral Health provides a broad range of multi-disciplinary behavioral health services to Fort Detrick community. The evidence-based behavioral health services are used to optimize Soldiers' behavioral readiness through assessment, treatment, and preventive efforts provided across multiple services and subspecialties.  At this time BAHC Behavioral Health serves active duty service members only.  Families and eligible retirees are able to request an appointment with the LCSW located in the Primary Care department.

Please arrive 30 minutes early to scheduled Behavioral Health appointments to ensure the Behavioral Health Data Portal (BHDP) report is completed. BHDP is a tri-service outcome and screening tools that all patients need to complete prior to the start of their appointment. Arriving early ensures the report can be completed and not interfere with session time.
For emergency and off-duty hours, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
